The Story

Andres Motorsports got the idea for their monster Mini after campaigning a comparatively underpowered Mini in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. The car proved reliable enough to finish the grueling race in 2003 and 2004, but just didn't have enough muscle to win.

Starting with the same R53-gen Mini Cooper S they campaigned a decade earlier, Jacques and his team fitted a second 1.6-liter supercharged inline-four in the back — duplicating the front-engine cradle and holding it in place with stress-absorbing vanes. They modified the rear shock towers, added extra air vents behind the doors, relocated the rear anti-sway bar, and fitted a racing fuel cell where the front passenger seat would be.

Jacques Andres — Owner

Jacques Andres — Owner of Bay Bridge Motors

Jacques Andres has always loved cars and has worked in the automobile industry for more than 35 years. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Arizona Automotive Institute, then completed mechanics and race training school at Laguna Seca Raceway with Russell Racing of Monterey.

Eventually, Andres formed and ran a national pro formula car race team. He subsequently created Alien Composites — a company that built fiberglass and carbon fiber parts for race cars — and worked his way up to Indy cars.

On the engineering side, he focused on aerodynamics and suspension issues. He worked as a driver coach with some of America's top race-car drivers using sophisticated tracking technology. Though he still races a Mini Cooper in the 25 Hours NASA Pro Endurance, today his focus is on a sustainable approach to the future of transportation needs.
